Project: Parking lot
Size: 20,000 sf
Western Texas is an area notorious for many freeze – thaw cycles throughout the winter months. Major food distribution center needed protection from the damaged caused by water freezing and expanding, effectively fracturing the top surface of the concrete. This along with heavy loads from turning trucks and generous use of de-icing salts led to major deterioration over the years. The only reactive maintenance procedure was “spot” remove and replace which did not address the underlying problem. This was never ending and budgets could no longer sustain this strategy.
NEXT-GEN SURFACING SOLUTION’S Concrete Resurfacer was placed in multiple layers to shield the concrete surface and prevent the water and salt from penetrating the concrete. As always, prior to application of the resurfacer material, all areas were properly prepared; shot blasted, grinded, acid etched, power washed, chipped out and leveled.
The parking lot was done in phases to allow for necessary traffic through the area. Stakeholders were very happy with the results both structurally and aesthetically. Have since adopted a “proactive strategy for all locations featuring Next-Gen’ Concrete Resurfacer.
